Instead of relying on incubator humidification, the HumDish ensures an individual dish maintains high humidity. This is achieved by utilizing a large water reservoir in the outer ring and minimizing evaporation with a narrow gap between the outer wall and the lid. As a result, humidity levels stay consistent at 96-98% from Day 0 to 7, stabilizing osmolality throughout the culture period. Moreover, the water in the outer ring serves to mitigate temperature fluctuations caused by door openings or microscopic control. A special lid equipped with a sensor is available to monitor the HumDish’s humidity level under standard embryo culture conditions.
