MiOXSYS® is a company that has developed a rapid in vitro diagnostic semen test for accurately measuring oxidative stress. The company’s sORP measure is based on the principle of oxidation-reduction potential, which measures the exchange of electrons in the sample. Unlike other measures, sORP represents an integrated measure of all oxidants and reductants, making it a clinically meaningful measure when diagnosing idiopathic cases associated with high levels of oxidative stress. This allows clinicians to better identify and address fertility issues related to oxidative stress in male patients.

  • The MiOXSYS® sensor is a single-use, platinum-based electrode sensor, specifically designed to deliver highly accurate Oxidation-Reduction Potential (ORP) measurements. The sensor utilizes a stable state working electrode and an Ag/AgCl reference cell. In operation, the seminal plasma is absorbed through a dedicated filter on the sample port and subsequently migrates across the working electrode to fill the reference cell, thereby completing the electrochemical circuit. Intended to be used with the MiOXSYS® system, this sensor facilitates rapid and definitive measurements of seminal oxidative stress. The results generated by the MiOXSYS® sensor provide an integrated measure of all oxidants and antioxidants present in the sample, a feature that adds significant clinical value by offering a comprehensive overview of oxidative stress conditions.
