Alpha‑Tec’s QC-Beads™ are a solution of latex beads that can be used to establish controls during semen analysis. Each ready-to-use kit has known “high” and “low” concentrations of QC-Beads™ that standardize counting parameters. QC-Beads™ can be used to analyze a technician’s manual counting technique using a microscope, or to measure the performance of an automated semen analyzer’s optical system and image processing. Before performing any sperm counting, a daily quality control check using the two concentrations of QC-Beads™ is recommended. Product packaging may differ from image. -
Alpha‑Tec Serum Control Kits are used to establish controls during antisperm antibody assays. The Serum Control Kit’s positive serum contains IgA and IgG antibodies, whereas its negative serum contains no detectable antibodies against sperm. Using a positive control during direct sperm antibody testing can overcome the impracticality of using antibody-positive sperm specimens as positive controls. Using a negative control during testing is also recommended. Both Sperm Antibody Positive A/G Serum and Sperm Antibody Negative Serum have been tested and found to be negative for HIV antibodies and hepatitis B surface antigens, however negative results do not guarantee absence of these viruses.
