Alpha‑Tec’s QC-Beads™ are a solution of latex beads that can be used to establish controls during semen analysis. Each ready-to-use kit has known “high” and “low” concentrations of QC-Beads™ that standardize counting parameters. QC-Beads™ can be used to analyze a technician’s manual counting technique using a microscope, or to measure the performance of an automated semen analyzer’s optical system and image processing. Before performing any sperm counting, a daily quality control check using the two concentrations of QC-Beads™ is recommended.
