The Kitazato Cryotop® is a vitrification device for use in the storage of human oocytes and embryos. The device itself consists of a fine strip of transparent film attached to a plastic handle. Specimens with a minimum volume of 0.1 µl can be loaded into the device for vitrification. Cooling and warming rates of -23,000 ºC/minute and 42,000 ºC/minute respectively can be achieved by using the Cryotop® device, leading to superior oocyte and embryo survival rates.
